Helen Hawes

Creating bridges between the inner and outer worlds has been a constant thread throughout my life. Much of my current work, dialoguing with imagery, derives from two early childhood convictions:

  1. Everything lives and talks, if only we knew the language.
  2. There's an invisible world that exists side by side with the visible world.

My early education, MFA, was in Studio Arts. I have been a practicing artist, making the invisible visible, for 35 years. I have 25 years of teaching and single parenting experience. I am a certified Focusing trainer, Reiki Master, and Tai Chi instructor. In the early eighties I founded the Art and Architecture Committee, a joint venture between Artists and Architects, under the auspices of the Boston Society of Architects. Today it encourages a wide scope of collaborative projects.

I am currently the curator of the art collections of two large corporations and have worked as a consultant for businesses and individuals using "art making" sessions to establish new approaches to problem solving. My own works are hanging in over 200 private and corporate collections in the greater Boston area and have been shown in galleries and museums throughout the country.

Fifteen years ago, I began developing a unique series of workshops which teach people to navigate in the world of imagery. Today my students continue to teach the workshops in various locations.

I am currently living in West Dummerston Vermont where I am pursuing an advanced degree in Walking in the Woods.
