One Day Collaborative Painting Workshops

led by Helen Hawes
Saturdays 10:00 - 5:00: March 27, 2010; May 22, 2010

Stuck in a rut? Tired of Playing alone? Want to learn how to be true to yourself and be in relationship? See the fighting all around and not know how to stop it? Join us for a One Day Collaborative Painting Workshop. Conflict between nations causes untold suffering in the world today. This same world is becoming smaller and smaller as virtual technology closes the gap between continents. It is time to begin exercising our muscles of group mind and making a commitment to conscious relationship.

In these one day playful workshops we practice letting go of ownership and entering into relationship. We can relax into our creativity because we don't have to do it alone. We need only do our part. Someone comes before and someone comes after. Just like geese flying in their V formation, we can go farther in a group than we can on our own. Experience getting out of the driver's seat and into the passenger seat, so you can enjoy the ride! Stop planning and start being here now! You don't have to fix, figure out, or understand. Let the drawing tell you what comes next. Startle yourself with brand new marks, or try one someone else's and see how they fit.

We will work in pairs , triads and in groups of six. Paints, pastels , ins, pencils, oil sticks , and more will be used to create collaborative 2D works. No previous training is necessary. There will be time to respond to the work when we are done. Responding is just as creative a process as making the pieces. The studio is a non threatening, right and wrong free zone. These workshops run from 10am to 5pm. The cost is $125 and includes all materials. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided. Bring a bag lunch and we will picnic if weather permits.

How would the world change if we all saw each other and not our projections of fear? What would happen if we change attack and defense into listen and respond? Playing together we can find out!
